Event coverage.

This past week, Nuremberg in Germany has held host to another annual Toy Fair, this one the largest yet with a whole host os manufacturers, distributors and retailers showcasing the very best they had to offer on the show floor. There wasn’t too much of any brand new reveals but what we did see was a lot of previews for upcoming figure releases from a number of major players in our community. Our man on the ground, Patrick Pchalek (@wonderbunk) was present and was able to summarise the event with this subsequent gallery :

Hear Patrick’s thoughts from the showfloor :

This years Fair hosted over 2900 companies from all over the world. Small start-ups up to global players showcased their products from several sectors of the toy industry. Since it’s a trade-only Fair the focus was about business but there was still a lot of fantastic stuff on display.

Beside various distributors like HEO, PBM and Cosmic Group who displayed collectibles from different companies there was also a fine selection of companies like GoodSmile or XM Studios who promoted their work. As I mention XM Studios they were my personal highlight because the displayed statues were out of this world. Pricey but probably one of the best statues I ever saw live! GoodSmile company had a wide variety of Figma and Nendoroid figures on display and I had the opportunity to take a figure with me. Huge thanks!

They also displayed their new line of Harry Potter Nendoroid and offered a look into their new line of scale statues. Unfortunately Hasbro, Lego, Mattel and Playmobil had very hard restrictions at their booth. And even with my press pass I wasn’t allowed to take any pictures. Bandai was very gentle and offered me a table to take pictures and it was also allowed to touch figures. Wish I had more time at that moment. Very interesting were the model car and model-building halls. A lot of new releases and a very gentle customer service.

A huge thank you to Patrick for taking us with him to Nuremberg Toy Fair 2019 and also to the brilliant hospitality of the booth teams that allowed us a greater insight in the figures on their way into our collections this year.
