Throughout December we’ll be showcasing work from across the community in a retrospective project dubbed “My Top 3 2018”. Carine Desjardins (@Somewildfigures)  is up next in our series sharing his personal favourites from 2018 along with a few reason behind why he chose them. Its over to Carine to introduce their selection :

I only started toy photography last July, so two of them are my recent shots. I chose them because of personal attachment, not my most popular on my page.

“Happy 20th, Ocarina of Time”

This is one of my favorites. Ocarina of Time sums up my childhood. I wanted to do something special for the 20th anniversary last November but I couldn’t find inspiration from the many iconic scenes of the game. Instead I created something different, with familiar items that quickly take us deep into the memories of our favorite game. The snow is fake, made by mixing some baking powder and flour, the house in the background is a DIY kit I found online that fits nicely with the depth.

“Nap time”

thumbnail_IMG_2429I took this photo for a friend. Another simple shot but I fell in love with the light. As much as details of the miniature world is important, natural light is very important to me. Depth also plays a role in many of my photos. I used the tree trunk on this one and it fit nicely. The light is magical.

A huge thank you to Carine for sharing their 2018 favourite pieces and if you want to get involved and share your Top 3 then all you need to do is email with your 3 creations (toy shots, customs or dios) along with your name and a few paragraphs explaining your choices.

Be sure to catch more of Carine’s portfolio over on Instagram via @somewildfigures

For all the very latest from across the toy community, stay tuned to Exclu.
