Throughout December we’ll be showcasing work from across the community in a retrospective project dubbed “My Top 3 2018”. Brian Stoodley (@bythebulb)  is up next in our series sharing his personal favourites from 2018 along with a few reason behind why he chose them. Its over to Brian to introduce their selection :

Though I’m usually partial to action shots, I am very proud of this for a number of reasons. The posing, colors, and perspective are some of the best I’ve done, in my opinion. Also, I had just gone to my first Power-Con and had the opportunity to make some very cool new friends that were instrumental in helping me acquire Lion-O and Cowarros (my first Mythic Legions figure!). So this shot also has some sentimental value.

Probably my favorite action shot this year. I think the debris effect really turned out and the light was really working in my favor. I was really impressed with the character of Hela and wanted her to be taking it to an iconic, male villain of some sort. I just feel like there aren’t a ton of female characters out there who get the opportunity to really kick someone’s teeth in. I settled on Skeletor and I really think it works. I remember setting up this shot thinking that it wasn’t going to turn out. Just goes to show that being patient and a little stubborn can pay off.

This is a case of randomly having two figures in my hands while cleaning my shelves and saying, “Hey, why not?”. It’s such a mismatch and Magneto’s pose is so nonchalant, I just get a kick out of it. I also love the way the light is coming through Magneto’s hands and was fortunate enough to have Doc Ock’s arms work with me. In a lot of ways this is a lucky shot, but I am quite proud of how it turned out.

A huge thank you to Brian for sharing their 2018 favourite pieces and if you want to get involved and share your Top 3 then all you need to do is email with your 3 creations (toy shots, customs or dios) along with your name and a few paragraphs explaining your choices.
