Throughout December we’ll be showcasing work from across the community in a retrospective project dubbed “My Top 3 2018”. Adam Burke (@burkeheadtoys)  is up next in our series sharing their personal favourites from 2018 along with a few reason behind why he chose them. Its over to Adam to introduce their selection :

Having only been involved with this hobby for less than a year, I thought this top 3 was an interesting idea to revisit my photos over the last year.  For me, the following 3 stood out the most.

The NECA ninja turtles was the first (and thus far only) pre-order I’ve done.  I had this particular shot in mind as soon as I saw them advertised.  I guess my niche is toys coming alive as themselves.  So if I had 4 TMNT running around the house, I think the first thing they’d do is steal my pizza.

The Chip and Porg (think of Indy and the Idol) was my first real try at using atmosphere aerosol. It took a couple tries to get the lighting to work out the way I wanted, but I was pleased with the end result.  It was also the first time I was going to try and make a rock wall dio, but I quickly scrapped that idea and just used a real rock.  I have mad respect for all the dio makers out there, I just don’t think I have the skill and patience to pull those off.

My last pic was one of my most popular so far.  When I got Lock, Shock and Barrel, this was the main shot I really wanted to pull off.  Although I wasn’t sure how to pull it off since all my editing is usually done on my phone.  This was the first time I really dug into Photoshop.  Hours and several google searches later, I was happy with how it turned out.

A huge thank you to Adam for sharing their 2018 favourite pieces and if you want to get involved and share your Top 3 then all you need to do is email with your 3 creations (toy shots, customs or dios) along with your name and a few paragraphs explaining your choices.
