To say that we were surprised to see Bandai picking up the Harry Potter license and debuting characters as part of the SHF line is nothing short of stating the obvious. The line hasn’t received as much attention or buzz as I’m sure Bandai would have liked and that’s all down to a myriad of reasons. I think there’s potential here, but their choice of starting with The Philosopher’s Stone (Sorcerer’s Stone state-side) has somewhat hindered things and I feel they would have been better served starting strong with the older versions of the characters which would have allowed them to debut the rest of the cast such as Voldemort, Sirius Black and Dumbledore in their most developed state.

But alas, we work with what we have and so I turn things over to Dan (@tinyepicphotos) who has shot for us a new image gallery and he shares his thoughts on the SHF Harry Potter figure :

Whilst I’m not a huge fan of the franchise, I can see the appeal for this S.H. Figuarts Harry Potter figure from Bandai/Tamashii Nations. The figure is of Harry as he appears in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s (Sorcerer’s) Stone film, which was released 17 years ago. So it seemed like an odd choice for for a new toy line. However, it’s a really nice figure with a great likeness to Daniel Radcliffe in all three interchangeable faces. Though there is a face where he’s showing his teeth that is a tad creepy, as it isn’t clear what emotion it’s trying to convey.

The articulation is good, which is to be expected from S.H. Figuarts, though raising the arms can lead to an awkward looking shoulder position which is mostly down to how the coat sits on the body and the small shoulder joint. The amount of accessories is also great, especially the inclusion of Hedwig the owl, who even has two sets of wings. In summary, this figure is a unique addition to the S.H. Figuarts line, and unlike the Star Wars and Marvel figures, this one doesn’t have have much close competition (that isn’t over a decade old).

A huge thank you to Tamashii UK / The Cosmic Group for letting us get our hands on this figure and be sure to let us know your thoughts on the figure in the comments below.
