We round out the week with the next entry into themed shoot series as Logan Smith tackles his given theme “Victory” and he does so with inspired fashion as he delves into his own interpretation of the theme represented throughout the Star Wars universe.

An exclusive themed shoot
By Logan Smith

Hi, I’m Logan Smith. When I was given the the theme word “Victory,” I had no idea what I wanted to shoot. I only knew that I didn’t want all of my shots to be focused on winning a physical battle. I wanted to explore the meaning of victory, but also come up with a few shots that went along with the main definition of victory. So after a few days of thinking, these are the shots I’ve come up with.

Figures used in the photo:
Han Solo Star Wars 40th Anniversary Black Series by Hasbro
-Lando Calrissian Black Series by Hasbro

This photo represents the kind of victory achieved by beating an opponent in a game. I remembered that Han Solo had won the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian in a game of sabacc. So I did some research, and found that the game took place on Cloud City. I made a table for the two characters to sit at, printed out tiny sabacc cards on photo paper, and set up a background and lighting that matched the location. This was the hardest and most time-consuming photo in this shoot, but I am happy with the way it turned out.

Figures used in the photo:
-First Order Stormtroopers Black Series by Hasbro
-BB-8 Black Series by Hasbro

This photo represents a victory achieved by reaching a goal. It imagines if the First Order found the droid it was looking for *wink*. The two stormtroopers gained victory by finding BB-8 as they were ordered to.

Figures used in the photo:
-Princess Leia Organa Black Series by Hasbro
-Chewbacca Black Series by Hasbro
-Han Solo Star Wars 40th Anniversary Black Series by Hasbro
-Luke Skywalker Black Series by Hasbro
-R2-D2 from Bandai
-C-3PO Black Series by Hasbro

The third photo also shows a victory achieved by reaching a goal. Luke Skywalker always hated living on Tatooine and dreamed of leaving it. One of the reasons Luke wanted to leave was that most of his friends had gone off to an Imperial Academy, and he wanted to go with them. This photo shows that he reached his goal of getting off of Tatooine and made some new friends.

Figures used in the photo:
-Darth Vader Black Series by Hasbro

This photo is what I imagine going through Anakin’s mind just before he dies and becomes a force ghost. It depicts Anakin telling Darth Vader that he won the internal conflict between them. Anakin claimed victory.

Figures used in the photo:
-Darth Vader Black Series by Hasbro
-Obi-Wan Kenobi Black Series by Hasbro

This last photo represents the main and most common meaning for victory- winning a fight. This is a recreation of Obi-Wan’s final moments. Darth Vader defeated Obi-Wan and claimed victory.

I hope you enjoyed my themed photo shoot!

A huge thank you to Logan for really showing off his creativity by tackling a variety of shots with each one tackling a different angle on the theme. Be sure to catch more of Logan’s work over on Instagram via @_star_shots_ and leave a comment below to let us know your thoughts.
